The 11th Annual "Things Are Cooking In Overtown" Fundraising Event is a historic moment for St. John Community Development Corporation that will mark its continuing commitment to restore and renew the Overtown community. The event was created by the Board of Director's Fundraising Committee in 1999, to fund the efforts of the organization.

This year symbolizes the realization of renewal, hope and change for millions of Americans and others around the world with the election of our first African-American President. Given the current crisis in the housing and mortgage industries, it has become much more difficult for our organization to acquire resources from traditional funding sources. Supporting this event is crucial to our mission of restoration, revitalization and redevelopment.

We need every dollar and every individual has the capacity to make a difference to the life of socially distressed families and senior citizens by helping us provide decent, safe and affordable housing to our residents.
